Artist Statement
Ariel Liu explores the boundaries between strength and surrender through two distinct yet interconnected series of paintings for “holding on and letting go”. Her oil paintings capture the raw facial expressions of physical exertion, while her acrylic landscapes reimagine the human form as natural terrain. Through both bodies of work, Ariel investigates moments of intensity and release, informed by her unique perspective as both a fitness instructor and Buddhist meditation practitioner.
